All of our shoes are handmade at our George factory in SA. Slight variations in colour and imperfections show the natural character of the leather. They are not flaws or faults but clear indications of real leather. These are not a basis for a return.
Regular delivery time is 15 working days from date of order. If we do have stock your shoes will be shipped within 1-3 working days after payment has been made. Our courier delivery time is over and above this.
You are in a hurry? You can order a rush express service at R300 to guarantee delivery to major center within 8 working days. Shipping to rural and remote areas is about 2-3 days longer.
Bummel Shoes is a small family-run business. If you have a query about your order or our products, please email us during office hours Mo-Fri 9 am to 5 pm at admin@bummel.co.za. This is the most effective and efficient way to get a quick answer.
Bummel Shoes accepts payment via EFT, credit card payments via Shopstar Pay as well as Snapscan and Pay Just Now. An order will only be shipped once it's been paid in full, with the exception of the Pay Just Now option, where you pay one-third when ordering and the remaining 2/3rds over the following two months. You're welcome to pick up your order in George. Please send an email (including your order number) to admin@bummel.co.za to organise the collection.
All orders are shipped from George using our courier Aramex. Please allow 3-5 working days for delivery. Local and national shipping is free for orders over R1000. A shipping fee of R90 (George area) or R130 (RSA national) will be charged for any orders less than R1000. Our courier is unable to deliver to a PO Box, so we’ll need a physical address for delivery. All shipments to rural areas (outlaying areas and farms) will be delivered to PostNet branches only and can be collected there. View our current shipping rates here.
International orders are shipped through our courier company Aramex. Please provide your SA ID number or your international passport number when placing the order. Please allow 10-14 working days for delivery once your order has been shipped. You will receive a tracking number once your parcel is shipped. International rates for the shipment of one or two pairs, respectively, are displayed on check-out for the following areas: Southern Africa, the UK, Europe, Australia/NZ and the USA/Canada. All prices are shown in ZAR and the shipping costs does not include customs duties, taxes or any fees charged by the receiving country. These must be paid by the recipient of the parcel.
All shoes are carefully inspected before shipping and therefore no returns will be allowed. In the case of your shoes being the incorrect size, we can offer you an exchange for the correct size. In this case, Bummel’s return policy lasts 30 days. If 30 days have gone by since your purchase, unfortunately we cannot offer you an exchange. To be eligible for an exchange, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. It must also be in the original packaging.
All courier charges (for collection and shipment, local or international) shall be carried by the customer.
Once your return is received and inspected, Bummel will send you an email to notify you that it has been received. We will ship your new pair of shoes within 3 workings days if we have it in stock, or within 15 working days if it needs to be made.
If you spilled something oily on your Bummel Shoes use dry Bicarbonate of Soda to soak up the spill: rub it on the spot and let it dry for best result overnight. Brush off and use Bummel Shoes leather food to make the spot less visible and to impregnate the shoes.
If this does not work satisfactorily you can use a soapy solution of a little Sunlight Liquid and wipe the spot very lightly. This method has to be used very carefully.
And then you can use our Bummel Shoes Leather Food - best before wearing it the first time. Wipe the entire pair to impregnate and darken the shoes completely. Order your leather food here.
Please note: We at Bummel Shoes are not responsible for spills and spots and the way you clean your shoes. All cleaning is carried out at your own risk.
We offer re-soling of your Bummels at R300 excl. courier fees. Please drop them off at our shop in George or alternatively send us your shoes with a courier of your choice to 46 York Street, corner York & Laing, George or we can arrange for collection via courier at an R150 collection fee.
The lead time for re-soling is 2-3 weeks from the day we receive your shoes, until we ship them back again. You can opt to collect the shoes after re-soling or have them returned to you via courier (R150 courier fees apply). You can also add the re-soling service to a new shoe order, which will save you on shipping fees. Please leave a note about the desired return option in the comments section with your re-soling order.
For all Bummel shoes from size 2 - 13 we now offer four sole options: thin sole in natural and black; thick sole; and rough sole.
For replacement laces please email Liezel at admin@bummel.co.za the style of shoes and your address and we will send replacement laces to you. Only courier charges apply.
If you would like a custom-made pair of Bummel Shoes in a special colour or leather please note: In principle we are always happy to receive your enquiry and discuss your ideas. However, we will need extra time, so please allow for at least three weeks to make your unique shoes. A surcharge will be added for custom-made shoes. Purchase your extra charge here.
